Kali Rising is operated by Kelly Reinhart and Sara Yandell. We are a woman, queer, and veteran-owned small business. Kelly and Sara married in 2022 and decided to start Kali Rising in order to bring yoga, movement, and mental health awareness to the communities of El Paso and Southern New Mexico.

Kelly believes that mental health and yoga go hand in hand. Her aim is to provide a safe haven for students to break down barriers, foster exploration, and learn more about themselves.

Her Background:

Kelly believes that yoga provides the opportunity to become more embodied and empowered. Yoga is a tool that assists us in finding our inner wisdom and provides a path to acceptance of ourselves and others. As a dual yoga instructor and social worker, Kelly incorporates her knowledge of mental health into her yoga teaching. Her work focuses on trauma, anxiety, and substance abuse. Kelly is currently based in El Paso, Texas and teaches with various organizations. In the past, she has provided trauma-focused yoga for women in early recovery from substance use disorders, yoga for children in order to develop mindfulness and emotion regulation, and has appeared for classes at Calhoun Flower Farms, Zin Valle Vineyards, Berklee College of Music, and Lululemon.

Having found that yoga transformed her mind and body, Kelly decided to complete her 200-hour yoga teacher certification in order to share the power of yoga with others. Under the instruction of David Vendetti and Todd Skoglund, she completed her training in December 2016 at South Boston Yoga. She received her Masters in Social Work from Boston College in May 2016 and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

Kelly has continued her development of teaching yoga through completing a 100-hour advanced yoga teacher training in yin and restorative yoga through Yandara Yoga Institute and is a Level II Reiki Practitioner.

“You are capable of far more than you give yourself credit.”

- Sara

Her Background:

Sara is originally from Norman, Oklahoma. Having a background in Web-design and E-Commerce, Sara ultimately decided that she wanted more and decided to join the Air Force back in 2013. Her journey would first take her to Grand Forks, North Dakota which would fuel her love for nature and the outdoors. During her time in North Dakota she went on many adventures with her side kick, Roxy. When Sara moved to El Paso, TX, she decided she wanted to find ways to have people fall in love with the outdoors the same way she did. She created Chasing Views Drinking Brews and led hikes for a non-profit organization averaging over 300 miles a year and lots of beer (or coffee) at the top! One of the best parts of leading hikes was showing people they are capable of far more than they give themselves credit.

The universe, she works in cosmic ways bringing Sara and Kelly together meeting for the first time out at a waterfall. That’s where a new adventure began. They both loved giving people the space to experience something more than themselves and that’s ultimately what inspired them to create “Kali Rising”. As they say, Kelly is the face of the business and Sara is the creative mastermind. Somehow they would be the perfect fit to start this journey.
